Feeding America is the nationwide network of 200 food banks that leads the fight against hunger in the United States, providing food to more than 46 million people through 60,000 food pantries and meal programs.

Feeding America also supports programs that improve food security among the people we serve; educates the public about the problem of hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people from going hungry. Individuals, charities, businesses and government all have a role in ending hunger.

As the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, Feeding America provides more than 3.6 billion meals to virtually every community in the United States through food pantries and meal programs.

It is estimated that 40% of all food, about 70 billion pounds, is wasted in America each year, and feeding America is working to redirect that food to the 42 million people in the United States who feel the effects of food insecurity.

Last year, with their partners, Feeding America diverted over 2 billion pounds of safe, edible food that might otherwise have gone to waste, to Americans facing hunger.

"Charities that aid with food insecurity have been a personal focus that has pulled my heartstrings since childhood. As a young girl, my mom would bring my sisters and I to volunteer at a food shelter. Due to our age, we mostly poured waters and cleaned trays. As a teenager, I would distribute clothing donations during meal services to the disadvantaged. These days, I volunteer at a NYC food pantry that receives food donations from charities that work along with Feeding America. I have seen Feeding America's work help countless men, women and children bridge the gap from food insecurity to a full belly."
