This is my grandmother Alice.
In 1921, at just seven years old, she immigrated from Czechoslovakia. She took a ship called the Finlandia for four weeks with her brothers and sisters across the Atlantic to meet their father (her mother had died when she was young.) She lost her first tooth on the journey and threw it overboard for good luck. Her name is on the wall at Ellis Island.
